Core Group

At Scrubditch Care Farm, we provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where adults with additional needs can thrive. Our main groups take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and are led by our Farm Supervisors, with the incredible support of our dedicated staff team and volunteers.

We offer a unique opportunity for our students to connect with nature, animals, and our community while developing practical skills and confidence. With over 40 students attending throughout the week, our hands-on sessions include a variety of farm tasks such as feeding the animals, checking the sheep, mucking out, clearing the barn, planting seeds in the polytunnel, enjoying woodland walks, or taking part in cookery activities.

No two days are the same, and students can develop their skills through group work which promotes teamwork, socialising, and learning. These engaging sessions can help enhance wellbeing, and create a sense of achievement. Sessions run from 10am–3pm, with the option of a half-day in the morning or afternoon.

Feel Good Farming - Farming for Wellbeing Sessions

On Tuesdays, we also support adults with life-limiting illnesses, including dementia, who attend with their spouses or carers. These sessions provide a chance to engage in gentle farm activities, enjoy social time over refreshments, and experience the therapeutic benefits of the countryside.

Being outdoors, working with animals, and engaging in farm life have proven benefits for both mental and physical health. The fresh air, movement, and connection to nature help reduce stress, boost mood, and improve overall wellbeing. Our farm is also a place for friendships to flourish, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose within a supportive community.

Events

Alongside our regular sessions, we host events throughout the year, bringing people together to celebrate and support our work. In the spring term, we hold our popular Open Day and Plant Sale, showcasing the students’ hard work in our gardens. The summer term sees our lively Summer Fete, filled with fun activities and entertainment. As the year draws to a close, our festive Christmas Fair in the autumn term is a highlight for all.

We also run half-termly coffee mornings in the spring and summer, providing a relaxed space for visitors to enjoy a cuppa, chat with others, and take in the beauty of the farm.

For companies and organisations, we offer volunteering opportunities, where teams can spend a day with us helping on larger farm projects while giving back to the community.

At Scrubditch Care Farm, we believe in the power of nature, community, and hands-on experiences to enhance lives. Whether attending as a student, volunteer, or visitor, everyone leaves with a sense of connection, accomplishment, and joy.

Outreach Programme

At Scrubditch Care Farm, our Outreach Programme extends our services beyond the farm, bringing the unique experience of interacting with animals to individuals who may face barriers to visiting us.

Key Features:

  • Mobile Workshops: Our team takes animals to various locations, enabling us to reach those who cannot visit the farm.
  • Hands-On Experiences: Participants can feed, groom, and interact with animals, promoting emotional well-being and a connection with nature.
  • Inclusivity: The programme ensures people from diverse backgrounds, including those with physical disabilities, can benefit from animal-assisted activities.

Additional Benefits:

  • Therapeutic: Reduces stress, anxiety, and loneliness, supporting emotional health.
  • Educational: Offers learning about animal care, behaviour, and conservation.
  • Social Connection: Encourages bonding and community among participants.

By bringing our animals and expertise to schools, care facilities, and other organisations, we make the power of animal-assisted activities accessible to all.
